SNHU Accreditation Details

Southern New Hampshire University is institutionally accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), the regional accreditor for colleges and universities across New England. SNHU is a private, nonprofit institution, and its online and on-campus degrees are held to the same academic standards. Diplomas don’t distinguish between the two. SNHU’s psychology degree programs don’t have discipline-specific programmatic accreditation. Some other SNHU programs, such as counseling programs, may hold specialized accreditation. Psychology programs at SNHU aren’t designed to lead directly to licensure as a psychologist. A doctoral degree, supervised clinical hours, and state board approval are required to practice as a licensed psychologist in most states.

SNHU Application Requirements

Applications for online programs are submitted through SNHU’s website and take about five minutes to complete. There’s no application fee and no test score requirement. Undergraduate applicants confirm a high school diploma or GED via a short attestation form. Graduate applicants confirm a conferred bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution, with a minimum GPA of 2.75 for full acceptance or 2.0 for provisional acceptance. SNHU runs six undergraduate terms and five graduate terms per year, so multiple start dates are available throughout the year.
